SIAMS

Our school community is a family where each member shares our Christian values.  Everyone is valued for their own skills and talents and caring about others is central to our school ethos.

Relationships and a sense of community, together with our Church school identity, underpin our school vision:

Loving and Learning Together with God

‘I give you a new command; love each other.
You must love each other as I have loved you.’
John 13:34

Our values are explicit within our school and are known, understood and consistently referred to by staff and children. Our whole community came together to develop vision and values which represent our school identity.  As a result Christian values make a significant impact on the daily lives of all members of the school community
Worship is linked each half term to our whole school values and children are rewarded for demonstrating Christian values in their school life.

We are a welcoming, ambitious Christian school where different faiths and cultures are respected, and where everyone is valued as a precious gift of God, created in God’s image.  We recognise and develop the potential of each and every person and tirelessly pursue excellence, empowering all with the confidence for lifelong learning and a readiness to play a positive role in the community.

As part of our work to embrace the new curriculum and the changes that this would bring, in September 2014 we re-evaluated our whole school values. Through discussions with staff, governors, pupils and parents we have agreed that within the context of God’s world, at Beresford Memorial, we shall value:

Respect:  ‘Show proper respect to everyone.’
1 Peter 2:17

Hope: ’’For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”’
Jeremiah 29:11

Honesty: ‘You deserve honesty from the heart, yes, utter sincerity and truthfulness.’
Psalm51:6

Kindness: ‘Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.’
Colossians 3:12

Creativity: ‘Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them.’
Romans 12:6

Courage:  ‘Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.’
1 Corinthians 16:13

We believe that these are the key values that underpin our curriculum, enable us to be successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens and which we promote at every opportunity throughout every child’s time at Beresford Memorial.

We are linked with St Pauls Church and worship there each half term as a whole school. We also celebrate special festivals such as Easter and Harvest at the church and invite our wider school community to join us too. Reverend Roger Woods was our vicar at St Pauls who came into school each week to lead our worship. Reverend Woods left to be vicar at a new parish over the summer and has sent us the following letter to let us know how he’s settling into his new role. We look forward to hearing from him again soon!
