Meet Our Governors

Mrs Ann Alexander

Ann is currently Vice Chair of Governors, and has many years’ experience of school governorship both here at Beresford and at another school. Having worked in a school administrative role for the past 18 years, she also has considerable knowledge of school procedures particularly in Finance, HR and Health & Safety.

Life beyond school is very much taken up with her 3 grandchildren – all girls, ranging from 4 weeks old to 2 years and she loves being a Nanny to them. She is also a member of St Luke’s Church and is Secretary to the District Church Council.


Mrs Kay Pickford

Kay is the EYFS Link Governor and visits school on a regular basis.


Mr John Alexander

With over 20 years’ experience of governorship at various schools, John Alexander is a Foundation Governor and is the Chair of the Finance and Pay Committees and also the Link Governor for mathematics. John is also currently Vice Chair of Governors for the Springfield/Horton Lodge Federation.
Having recently retired after many years spent in senior financial and managerial positions, John is a fully qualified accountant and brings his wealth of knowledge and expertise to the school in many forms.
Apart from his work for various charities, John likes walking, music, holidays and spending as much time as possible with his 3 granddaughters in the East Midlands.


Mrs K Burmeister

Katherine is Chair of Governors and has 2 children at Beresford Memorial First School.



Mr Steven Millward

Being a Beresford Memorial Teaching Assistant within year 1, makes Steven Millward a good candidate to sit on the curriculum body. As well as thoroughly enjoying every aspect of his roles within the school, Steven enjoys a wide variety of hobbies and interests. "I believe passionately with the beliefs and ethos the school sets and want to see the school achieve even greater things, for the children, staff and community, than it already has".


Mrs Sue Hodgkinson

Sue is a Foundation governor and is also the SEN link Governor. She has over 10 years’ experience as a Teaching Assistant, supporting SEN pupils. She is also on the Education and Standards Committee at Beresford. Sue has volunteered with Girl Guiding UK as a Brownie Leader for 40 years. Her hobbies include holidays, reading & cooking.
